I don't think there is anything more tired, outdated and unimaginative than chocolates or the bauble du jour from the Mall jewelry store chains. I've always made dinner for my wife for VD, but when she was pregnant with our son and wasn't feeling so hot all she wanted was soup and a sandwich. So, I made her my creamy tomato bisque and paninis to jazz it up a bit. Ever since then that has become our little tradition. If I didn't make the bisque and panini for her, she'd be very disappointed. Normally we don't do gifts, but since we are expecting our second child in June I did get something small to give to her that is actually for the baby.
