Drinks of Summer: Lynchburg Lemonade

I’m planning on writing a series of posts about some of my favorite drinks in the summer.

Lynchburg LemonadeOf course, it is hard to go wrong with an ice cold beer on a hot summer night. But, I like to mix it up and quite often will skip the beer for something else. Then again my fridge is always well stocked with a variety of beers (Sam Adams Light and Corona at the moment).

One of my all time favorite summer drinks is a Lynchburg Lemonade.

I don’t remember where I first came across this but it is hard to make wrong. And yes, you’ll learn that when I give a recipe for a drink there isn’t a whole lot of measuring going on.

  • Take your glass of choice
  • Fill it with ice
  • Fill 3/4 of the way with Lemonade
  • Fill the rest with Whiskey
  • ENJOY!

Honestly it is that easy and these will go back nice and smooth.

My personal choice is to make it with Simply Lemonade (find it if you can, this stuff is amazing) and Jack Daniels. But, I’m sure anything will do.

What is your favorite drink of summer?

Have you tried Jack mixed with Coca Cola in about the same proportions? Amazing.

    Hello fathers,

I like Vodka with orange juice, and if you feel like adventuring try Vodka, orange juice and cranberry juice, with lots of ice. But CC, don’t get me wrong, I’m getting a Jack Daniels TODAY… ;-)

I’m a big fan of the classic Mojito. It’s my drink of choice during the Summer.

This is my favorite summertime drink too. Its crazy that the “official” Lynchburg Lemonade recipe is made up of triple sec, sweet and sour mix and Sprite. Its a lot more complicated to make, doesn’t taste as good, and doesn’t even contain real lemonade! Just straight-up lemonade and JD, at the ratio you mention is the ticket, definitely.

I first got turned on to this drink about 10 years ago, when my girlfriend whipped up a pitcher of it for a party. It’s bomb-diggety delicious!

I forgot to mention that I agree that the brand to go with is ‘Simply Lemonade’. I made it once with another brand, and it wasn’t nearly as good. (accidentally bought ‘Simply Limeaid’ once due to its nearly-identical packaging, and it was pretty good with JD too). Drinks with a lot of citrus, such as screwdrivers, usually give me heartburn, but for some reason Lynchburg Lemonade doesn’t.

Jack and Coke is good too, but in the summer I definitely prefer Lynchburg Lemonade.

A big fat iced americano from @TheCupBoulder. If that’s not available, I’ll take one from @Starbucks. Either way though, an americano is the summer business for me.

Tall glass of ice. A couple shots of Jack Daniels (to taste). Then fill with A&W or Stewarts Root Beer. … that will park your car for awhile!
